A 45 year old man is in police custody in Mzimba for allegedly duping some traditional leaders to pay him money for them to be considered for elevation.
The man identified as Lameck Magawa who is also a district council clerk in Inkosi ya Makosi Mmbelwa Five.
Mzimba police deputy spokesperson John Nyirongo has confirmed of the arrest of Magawa.
Nyirongo said that the suspect who was assigned to work as Inkosi ya Makosi Mmbelwa five’s clerk solicited K460, 000 from the traditional leaders.
Reports have indicated that Màgawa who started collecting the money last year was arrested after the duped traditional leaders reported the matter to Inkosi ya Makosi Mmbelwa the fifth who asked them to report the issue to the police.
