Tenant Stabs Landlord To Death Over Rent

A fight over rent ended in tragedy after a landlord was stabbed to death by his 24-year-old tenant in Kwekwe, Zimbabwe.

Victor Moyo was arrested after he killed his landlord Prayer Banda (22) of Mbizo 18 in Kwekwe following a clash over rent.

Midlands police spokesperson Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko confirmed the  tragic incident which happened at around 2 am on Monday to the State media saying; “We are investigating a case of murder of a 22-year-old man who died after being stabbed once with a knife by a tenant.”

According to the police report, the now-deceased arrived home in the early hours of the morning. He forced open a tenant’s bedroom door ordering him to vacate the room.

A misunderstanding ensued and the now-deceased produced a knife in an attempt to stab the tenant.

The now deceased was overpowered and disarmed. Tables turned as Moyo used the same knife to stab the now deceased who bled profusely.

Banda tried to seek assistance from his neighbours but collapsed and died before he could get any help.

Inspector Mahoko urged members of the public to solve disputes amicably without resorting to violence.
