ZIMBABWE: Mother Strips Naked In A Bid To Restrain Son From Assaulting His Wife

In a dramatic turn of events, an elderly Marange woman ended up stripping so as to stop her son from further assaulting his wife.

Gogo Zambuko told Mutare magistrate, Xavier Chipato, that her son, Charles Chidewu was so violent to the extent that he even attacks anyone who dares to intervene whenever he has issues with his wife.

The matter only came to light when Gogo Zambuko was applying for a peace order against Chidewu.

It is reported that Magistrate Chipato granted the peace order in Gogo Zambuko’s favor.

Chipato also advised Chidewu to move out of the family house and find alternative accommodation for his family.

Gogo Zambuko said she regrets offering her son residence at her homestead as he is violent and has become a thorn in her flesh.

She also accused Chidewu of attempting to burn down her house during a fate of rage.

“After having a misunderstanding with his wife, he closed all the doors and windows and opened the valve of a gas cylinder. I stopped him as he was about to light up a match stick,” said Sad Gogo.

In his defense, Chidewu said he had no intentions of burning the house but was trying to stop her mother from stripping in his presence. He said:

“I was having a misunderstanding with my wife and my mother came into our bedroom and stripped naked in our presence, I opened the gas valve and threatened her with death in a bid to stop her from stripping for us, I don’t understand how taking off her clothes was supposed to bring peace to our house.”
