Husband goes missing as wife is found dead with mopstick inserted in her private part

In Kenya, detectives are hunting down for a man believed to have murdered his 37-year-old wife who was found dead with a mopstick stuck inside her private part.

The body of Ann Njeri was found hidden under the bed at her rented single room house on Wednesday, July 28, by her sister who had unsuccessfully tried to reach out to her by phone.

Njeri who is a mother of a three-year-old boy was last seen on July 23, 2021.

Her naked body had marks on the neck, a sign of possible strangulation, and a mop stick was inserted in her private part.

According to the deceased sister Mary Nyokabi, her sister had only reunited with her husband two months ago after they parted ways for months over domestic wrangles.

Nyokabi, who is also a resident of Kitengela, had come to check on her sister only to find her house locked with a padlock and smelt a foul stench emanating from the house.

She informed neighbours and elders who after breaking into the house saw Njeri legs protruding from under the bed.

She says the husband, only identified as Chege, had threatened to kill her severally.

At the centre of the wrangles was who among the two was to be the custodian of their son identified as Antony Kimari after their earlier separation.

Neighbours who know the two say the couple engaged in frequent fights and quarrels.

Isinya sub-county police commander Charles Chepkonga confirmed the incident saying that detectives have launched a manhunt for the husband as he is considered the prime suspect.

“We have concluded that this incident is a heinous murder. From preliminary findings, we are treating the deceased’s husband as the prime suspect,’’ Chepkonga said.

The incident comes amid concerns of insecurity in Noonkopir area.

Despite having a newly established police post, incidences of insecurity continue rising.

It is in the same area that eight-year-old Shantel Nzembi was found murdered two months ago.

The body has since been moved to Kitengela Sub County Hospital
