30 People arrested for flouting COVID-19 measures

Police in Dedza District have arrested 30 people for contravening Covid-19 regulations.

Dedza Police Station deputy spokesperson, Cassim Manda, said the suspects include a barman, Yusuf Sydney of Jikisoni Village in the area of Traditional Authority Kaphuka.

Manda explained that they were arrested at Mchenga bar, Chimbiya Trading Centre at 2am on Tuesday against recommended closing time of 10pm.

“All of them were found loitering in the pub without observing social distancing and against recommended capacity which was reducer to 50%,” he said.
