Police Rescue Elderly Man From Angry Mob Who Wanted To Set Him Ablaze Over Witchcraft Allegations

Police in Mchinji rescued an 85 year old elderly man from being set ablaze by an angry mob on the suspicious that he was practicing witch craft.

Station Officer for Mchinji police Charles James Mpezeni confirmed of the development.

According to Mpezeni the angry mob wanted to burn the elderly man identified as David Jolijo immediately after the burial of a relation who died mysteriously.

Mpezeni added that the people accused Jolijo of practicing witchcraft and having a hand in the death of the deceased.

Jolijo has been hospitalized at Mchinji District Hospital as he sustaining injuries during the fracas.

Police are yet to make arrests on the same.
