Lucius reveals solution to suicide cases

President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera’s Special Advisor on Youth and Arts Lucius Banda has expressed his worry over increase in number of suicide cases in the country.

According to statistics, Malawi registered a 72 percent rise in suicide deaths between January and March 2021.

According to the World Health Organization, globally, every 40 seconds a person dies by suicide and many more attempt suicide.

Writing on his official facebook page Banda said the only solution to suicide cases in the country is entertainment.

“They used to afford entertainment long time ago.

“Because of economic hardships over the years, they decided to spend only on essentials like food, clothing, fuel etc,” wrote Banda.

He added: “But now it’s clear that entertainment was helping the nation to kill stress.

“Look at the suicide rate? I Plead with you companies selling essential products, serve your customers by sponsoring entertainment so that your customers survive.”
