Man who assaulted child suspected of stealing Irish Potatoes in Court

Vincent Dzimadzi whose video clip went viral last week while whipping and torturing a 14-year-old boy in Ntcheu is this afternoon appearing before Senior Resident Magistrate, Joshua Nkhono for plea.

State had earlier pressed a holding charge of acts intended to cause grievous bodily harm on Dzimadzi.

The suspect is being represented by Counsel Kadzakumanja of Robert and George.

After the video went viral, individuals and organizations demanded for the arrest of Dzimazi claiming what he did was uncalled for.

Writing on his official facebook page Lucius Banda described the assault on the child as barbaric.

“The behaviour portrayed by this man is totally uncalled for and we should strongly condemn it. Children and the youth at large are to be protected, loved, safe guarded, guided with pure love and wisdom to nurture them to be better citizens of our beloved nation, Malawi,” wrote Banda.
