Mwakasungula Cautions Kalindo On Demos

As people are still debating on United Transformations (UTM) Director of Youth Bon Kalindo on his decision to hold protests against President Chakwera administration, Human Rights Activist Undule Mwakasungula describes the move as pure hypocrisy.

Since last week, Kalindo has been making headlines following the sentiments he said against Tonse Alliance leaders over the failure to honor campaign promises they made to Malawians prior to June 23, 2020 fresh presidential elections.

Kalindo is accusing President Lazarus Chakwera’s government of practicing corruption and failing to deliver, hence a move to mobilize Malawians into the streets to show their anger.

However, Mwakasungula said the move to ask Malawians to demonstrate is pure hypocrisy and taking the populace for granted considering the fact that his UTM party is a key partner in the Tonse Alliance as a matter of fact its president is the country’s vice president.

According to Mwakasungula, genuine national engagement, dialogue and participation are remedies citizens need to change for the better and not through demonstrations.

Kalindo has lined up a series of protests in the country’s major cities beginning with Blantyre this Friday over Malawi’s economic woes.
