Police in Kasungu are looking for a sex worker only identified as Florence on suspicion she has stabbed to death her day-old baby before dumping the body in a river in the district.
According to Kasungu police spokesperson, Joseph Kachikho, the suspect allegedly committed the offence yesterday at Chikhala Village.
It is reported that some passersby saw the body of the baby- a girl- floating in Lisandwa River. They reported the matter to police.
Kachikho said officers who rushed to the scene observed that the body was with some deep wounds in the head and buttocks.
Police are urging those with information that can lead to the arrest of the suspect to report to any nearest police.
