Unknown people have broken into the premises of Likoma Water Users Association (LIWUA) and vandalized part of the water treatment tank there in Likoma.
According to Water Utility Operator for the scheme Jonathan Mkuyamba, they are suspecting some community members who formed a mob of fishermen who were chased out on Friday from plying their fishing activities close to the water intake amid worries that they have been infesting the intake area with bad human activities.
Water supply has since been temporarily suspended, pending engineers to work on the emergency.
Meanwhile, Likoma police arrested 4 people for allegedly obstructing police officers from discharging their duty at the scheme on Friday.
