MRA on Chita One Investments neck over unpaid custom

The Malawi Revenue Authority (MRA) has ordered Chita One Investments to surrender alcoholic beverages or pay K468, 670, 287. 73 customs duty for alleged smuggling.

MRA said in a letter that the investments imported assorted beverages between September and November 2021 but they were not declared at any Malawi Customs designated port.

The Authority has requested the Investments to “present the said goods to Customs or settle the duty evaded plus a fine of 100 percent of the prejudiced amount within 14 days, failing which we shall institute criminal proceedings against yourself without further notices.”
