A 48 year- old Police Officer at Chapima Police Unit Sub/Inspector McWorld Chiwalo from Chiwalo Village Traditional Authority Chiwalo in Phalombe district is in Police Custody after impregnating a 16- Old girl.
The incident occurred between March and April 2021 at Chapima Police Unit.
Brief facts of the case are that on the above stated period, the suspect went to the house of Mrs Patience Chatsika to perform private duties where he saw the victim who by then come to the house of her brother in-law Mr Amosi Kalulu seeking school assistance.
In the process, the suspect convinced Mr Amosi Kalulu that he can assist the victim by paying everything for school if the victim is serious.
Thereafter, the suspect called the victim at his office in order to discuss the matter and upon arrival to his office, the suspect forced the victim to have sex with her before giving her the much needed help as she wanted to go further with her Education.
Despite fulfilling his wishes, the suspect released the victim with nothing and two months later, the victim realised that she was pregnant and reported the matter to her relatives who invited the suspect to the victim’s home Village in Thyolo where he confessed to have sex with the girl and promised them that he will be taking care of the girl’s pregnancy.
Despite the promise, the suspect has done nothing up until December 6th, 2021 and then the case was reported by Mrs Eunice Banda, C/O Youth Net and Councilling Box in Zomba.
A case has been opened against the suspect who has been arrested for further Police action.
The girl hails from Kuliyawo Village Traditional Authority Chimaliro in Thyolo district and she is now Eight ( months pregnant
