Angry villagers from Mphonongo Village in Kasungu are holding demonstrations in a bid to remove senior chief Kaomba from his chieftaincy.
They claim that the senior and some other chiefs are selling some of the late Kamuzu Banda’s property and that they have now put the Kamuzu Academy Farm up for rent.
Senior Group Mphonongo said in an interview that the people of Mphonongo Village have been using the farm since Kamuzu Academy no longer uses it.
As such he said renting it out is killing their agriculture prospects and they rely on the same for their livelihoods.
They have since given Kamuzu Academy officials 14 days to respond to their petition, failing which the villagers will hold a virgil at the international school.
