DPP, UDF pay tribute to former first lady Annie Muluzi

Opposition political parties, United Democratic Front (UDF) and Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) have paid their tributes to Former first lady Annie Muluzi and consoled former president Dr. Bakili Muluzi.

In separate releases, UDF and DPP have honoured the role late Annie Muluzi played in the struggle for multiparty democracy and as first lady.

DPP president, Peter Mutharika and former first lady Gertrude said, they will celebrate the life of Muluzi, describing her as, a bold and courageous woman, who defined the office of the first lady with a high sense of decorum and dignity.

President Lazarus Chakwera and First Lady Monica have also sent their condolences to the Muluzi Family.

The first couple says, ” we have lost a mother, a patriot and pioneer of our democracy.”

The party she served, UDF, through General Secretary, Kandi Padambo, has since communicated, all UDF flags to fly half mast and cancelled all party activities.
