4-year-old girl dies after being hit by vehicle in Nkhatabay

In Nkhatabay, a 4-year-old girl, Thando Lungu has died after being hit by a cruising pick-up vehicle at Mpamba Trading Centre in the district on Wednesday this week.

According to Nkhatabay Police publicist, Sergeant Kondwani James, the motor vehicle registration number NB6456 which was being driven by Lawrence Mwale, was coming from Mzuzu heading towards the Boma with three passengers on board.

James says, upon arrival at Mpamba trading centre, Thando, dashed into the road as she was trying to cross from right to left side and she was unfortunately hit by the vehicle. She died on the spot.

Medical personnel at Mpamba Health Centre certified the child’s death as due to head injuries.

The driver who is currently in police custody escaped unhurt.
