A 36 year – old man identified as Joshua Mkandawire has died after hanging himself in a tree at Kapelemehe around Kafukule in Mzimba on Sunday.
On the material day Mkandawire told his relatives that he wanted to go to the toilet, but he never returned.
His body was found dangling from a mango tree in the nearby bush by his relatives who had mounted a search for him.
Mzimba police deputy spokesperson John Nyirongo said a postmortem conducted by medical personnel from Kafukule health center shows that Mkandawire died of suffocation.
Nyirongo said police are yet to establish reasons behind the suicide.
The late Mkandawire was from Kadzira village in the area of Inkosi Mpherembe in Mzimba district.
