Siblings on the run after beating brother to death in Lilongwe

Date:

Police in Lilongwe have launched manhunt for Alick and Tina Etifale for being suspected of murdering their brother, Clement Ziphondo, 42, at Kumankhamba Village in Traditional Authority Mazengera in Lilongwe on Monday.

Lilongwe Police Public Relations Officer, Hastings Chigalu confirmed the incident, saying on the day, Clement and his sister, Tina (first suspect), picked a quarrel over unknown reasons that ended into a fight.

“Later, Alick, who is the second suspect, joined the fight siding with Tina. As they fought, Clement fell down and became unconscious and upon sensing danger, both suspects bolted leaving Clement unattended,” Chigalu said.

The police spokesperson added that clement was later rushed to Nathenje Health Centre where he was pronounced dead upon arrival and postmortem revealed that the death was due to suffocation secondary to assault.

Meanwhile, both suspects are still at large.

The deceased and the two suspects hail from Kumankhamba Village in T.A. Mazengera in Lilongwe District.
