A secondary school teacher at Ntchisi Private Secondary School, Onward Mankhokwe, 28, is in police custody at Ntchisi Police Station for allegedly assisting his brother to escape police arrest.
Mankhokwe was arrested on January 6, 2022 at Ntchisi Trading Centre.
It is alleged that his brother, Maxwell Mankhokwe, who worked as a Supervisor at Zanda Trading in the district, had been on the run after stealing money worth over K18 million.
After this incident, the police launched a manhunt for Maxwell but his brother, Onward, had been blocking the arrest.
He connived with Maxwell’s wife to pull their tricks so that the brother could evade capture; a thing which worked out to their plan.
Police investigation led to the arrest of Onward who has since been pressed with a charge of accessory after fact, contrary to Section 407 of the Penal code.
He comes from Chimwankhuku Village, Traditional Authority Kalumo in Ntchisi district.
