A woman identified as Chrissy Likaka died last night after being hacked by a man only identified as Mfiti.
Phalombe police Officer In-Charge, Macdonald Chambakata, has told us today that the suspect broke into the house and hacked her to death.
Reasons for his action remain unclear.
Chambakata says that the man also injured a child who was sleeping in the house.
He says that the incident happened in Horo village Traditional Authority Nyezelera in the district.
He says police have launched a manhunt to arrest the suspect.
Meanwhile; burial ceremony for the woman has been conducted today at Horo village.
