Car suspected thief arrested in Lilongwe

A 30 year old man, Wighan Njakwa, is being kept at Kawale Police for being suspected to have stolen a Toyota Ractis saloon.

Njakwa was arrested on January 13, 2022 within Kawale as he was offering on sale the stolen motor vehicle.

Police received a tip off that the suspect was offering on sale a car suspiciously.

Detectives arrested him and recovered the motor vehicle which has been identified to have been stolen in Mzuzu.

Sub Inspector Mabvuto Phiri, Public Relations Officer for Kawale Police Station said investigations revealed the car was under the custody of Phillip Mzumala.

Mzumala was a taxi driver who went missing with the car since December 10,2021.

The matter was reported at Mzuzu Police by the owner.

Wighane Njakwa comes from Kampingosiwande Village in the area of Traditional Authority Kampingosiwande in Mzimba District.
