A Police Officer identified as Sikaletu Maselela has been taken to court for allegedly raping a woman, while in Police custody.
In this matter, Constable Maselela aged 28 is accused of having carnal knowledge of Belita Msimuko aged 20 without her consent on 5th March 2020, and in the process impregnated the victim. She later gave birth last year.
However, Constable Maselela disappeared from the court premises yesterday when the State Prosecutors brought the complaint to testify in the matter which is before Magistrate Betty Mwiinga.
The Court has since issued a bench warrant against the officer while the police in the area have launched a manhunt for the officer.
