Prophet Lures 16-year-old girl With “False” Prophecy And Rapes Her

ZIMBABWE – A self-styled prophet allegedly raped a 16-year-old girl in Chitungwiza on Tuesday after he had given her a “prophecy”, that the teenager’s mother was going to die suddenly.

Police said the self-styled prophet approached the victim as she walked along Tilco Road in Zengeza 3 and gave her the prophecy.

He allegedly instructed the teen to bring two undergarments for him to use to stop the alleged impending death.

The victim later brought the underwear as instructed whereupon the “prophet” raped her. Police said in a crime update:

The ZRP is investigating a case of rape in which a Chitungwiza juvenile (16) fell victim to a self-styled prophet on 01/02/2022 at an open space along Tilco Road near Sangos Shops, Zengeza 3.

The suspect approached the victim whilst walking along Tilco Road and gave her a false prophecy that her mother was going to collapse and die.

The victim believed the prophecy and was told to bring her two undergarments so that a ritual could be performed to reverse the imminent death of her mother.

The suspect later raped the victim after she returned with the undergarments.

In an unrelated incident, police urged motorists not to use their vehicles as pirate taxis by carrying strangers in their vehicles.

This follows a robbery incident in Masvingo on Tuesday where a man (39) and woman (68) were robbed of property valued at US$4 908 after picking four passengers at Metro Peach going to Roy and Zaka.

Police said that along the way, the suspects told the driver to park before attacking the complainants with an empty bottle and tying their hands with belts.
