Vuwa Kaunda resigns as Shadow Minister of Defence

Date:

Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Member of Parliament for Nkhata-Bay Central Constituency Simon Vuwa Kaunda has resigned as Shadow Minister of Defence.

The development comes barely days after two other DPP MPs namely Bright Msaka and Joseph Mwanamvekha also pulled out of the shadow Cabinet appointed by leader of opposition Kondwani Nankhumwa.

In a letter addressed to Nankhumwa, Vuwa Kaunda said he has resigned from the Shadow Cabinet since it is not recognised by the party.

“As You are aware sir, the leadership of our party the DPP Democratic Progressive Party does Not agree with the manner in which the shadow cabinet was appointed. The DPP Leadership does Not recognize the shadow cabinet.

“I am part of the DPP leadership. I therefore write to inform You sir that I have decided to withdraw or resign from the shadow cabinet forthwith,” reads in part the letter.

Nankhumwa is yet to comment on the matter.
