Two Germany Shepherd Dogs have ripped off the throat and stomach of a two-year-old child after the canines attacked her family in Livingstone.
Byta FM understands police are in the process of moving to kill the dogs.
Southern Province Acting Police Spokesperson, Alfred Nawa tells Byta FM News that the girl is hospitalized along with her eight year old sibling who sustained multiple injuries and cuts on her backside from the attack.
Nawa reveals that the dogs attacked Mambwe Mwelwa, 36 and her three children of Kalukuluku Street as they approached their home from Dambwa North Shopping Complex on Sunday.
He explains that the dogs came out and attacked the family after the children from their opposite neighbor’s house left the gate open.
Nawa says Mwelwa sustained a cut on her right thigh, while her other child whose age has not been disclosed sustained cuts on the hands and body.
The police say the two year old is in theatre at Livingstone Central Hospital.
However, Nawa says the police by Sunday had not yet summoned the dog owner over the matter.
