Mnangagwa’s ‘son’ sued over debt to ex-wife

HARARE – A Kwekwe man who claims to be President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s son has been sued over a US$6,500 debt by his ex-wife.

Sakile Mnangagwa, who resides at Lot 1 Sherwood Block, Kwekwe, the same address as President Mnangagwa’s farm, allegedly borrowed money from Patience Mudondiro in 2020.

Mudondiro told the small claims court in Harare on Monday that Mnangagwa borrowed US$1,200 in January 2020 to pay school fees for his sister in Zambia.

In March 2020, he allegedly borrowed another US$2,300 to buy a fridge.

Mudondiro told the court that she trusted Mnangagwa, to whom she had been married for three years, to an extent that she lent him a further US$3,000 to transport his maize to the Grain Marketing Board, convinced she would get her money back.

She said her efforts to convince Mnangagwa to pay back her money had failed.

Mnangagwa and Mudondiri are currently embroiled in a messy child maintenance case where the latter wants the court to order him to pay Z$80,000 (US$597) per month for child maintenance.

In October last year, the president’s office denied that Sakile was related to the president after three newspapers ran an article linking him to the Zanu PF leader.
