Govt is yet to Construct Karonga Gawa Undi House

The Chewa people in the country wants government to build a house for their king Karonga Gawa Undi who is based in Zambia.

The development has come when Zambian government has started constructing the house for the Chief in Chipata and also Mozambique government is constructing the house for the same chief in their country while Malawi is quite about the issue.

The kingdom of Gawa undi for the Chewas is in three Countries such as Mozambique, Zambia and Malawi.

According to Chief Lukwa, king Karonga is not an intruder therefore he needs to be treated and welcomed home in a proper manner not as a visitor but as a son of the soil.

“The chief’s house must be in all the three countries, he is our King, our Chief and he is above all the Chewa chiefs, that is why in respect to the Chief a house must be constructed,” he said

Commenting on the matter, Blessings Chinsinga, Minister of Local Government said Government will have a meeting with the stakeholders and after that the Chewas proposal may be taken into consideration since government under his ministry construct chief’s houses in the country
