Nairobi Man Chops Of Testicles In Attempted Suicide

A man in Nakuru,Nairobi has cut his testicles off using a kitchen knife in what police say was attempted suicide.

In a police report seen by Nairobi News, Mr Njoroge Waweru, 56, took the knife while his wife was in the bathroom.

“It was reported by one Ms Salome Wanja Njenga, a resident of Nairobi area of Kiamaina Ward about 1 kilometer South of this station that today at around 0730hrs while she was in the bathroom her husband took a kitchen knife and chopped off his testicles,” the report filed at Kiugoine Police Station in Nakuru County read in part.

The lady rushed her husband to Esther Memorial Hospital located in Maili Sita where he was attended and later referred to Nakuru County Referral Hospital in stable condition.

Mr Waweru is yet to tell the police what prompted him to attempt to end his life in such a manner.

The scene was visited by the Officer Commanding Station (OCS) Kiugoine Police Station accompanied by a group of police officers.

“A blood-stained kitchen knife was recovered as an exhibit,” the report further revealed.

In the recent past there is a growing alarm of people committing suicide in the country which also caught the attention of President Uhuru Kenyatta.

A statement made by Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Mr George Kinoti said that the country has never recorded such a high number of suicides as witnessed in the year 2021- 2022.

“We have never recorded such a high number of suicides before and this is not only alarming but calls for urgent remedial measures,” Mr Kinoti said.
