Mwenifumbo reacts to UTM supporters shunning Chakwera in Mzuzu

United Transformation Movement (UTM) has denied reports that party supporters shunned the grant entry of President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera in Mzuzu city on Tuesday.

Parties in Tonse Alliance namely; Malawi Congress Party (MCP), Alliance for Democracy (AFORD) and Freedom Party (FP) on Tuesday decorated some roundabouts in Mzuzu with flags and party cloths when welcoming President Chakwera.

But UTM Party flags and cloths were missing, attracting mixed reactions with many claiming that all is not well.

Speaking in an interview UTM spokesperson Frank Tumpale Mwenifumbo trashed the claims, saying UTM supporters were at the airport welcoming Chakwera in Mzuzu.

On the decorations, Mwenifumbo blamed it all on those who were decorating.

President Chakwera is in the Northern region for a number of engagements among them crop inspection, installation of Paramount Chief Chikulamayembe in Rumphi and commemoration of labour day in Mzuzu on 1st May.
