A 43 year old Malawian nurse has been found dead in a room at Kortasia lodge in Lilongwe, police confirmed.
The deceased, Beatrice Maluwaya who was from Nkhotakota spent the night at the lodge after she arrived late in the capital ahead of other engagements se had.
According to Lilongwe Police Station Publicist Hastings Chigalu, the businessperson the late Maluwaya was supposed to meet raised suspicion upon discovering that she could not pick her phone after several calls when he arrived at the lodge the next day.
Chigalu says the businessperson reported the matter to the lodge management who forcefully opened the door only to find her unconscious, and was taken to Partners in Hope Hospital where she was pronounced dead.
Postmortem was done yesterday at Kamuzu Central Hospital and revealed that she died of cardiac arrest.
