A suspected police officer has allegedly smuggled out a prisoner out of Chichiri Prison in Blantyre.
National Spokesperson for Malawi Prisons Chimwemwe Shaba confirmed the developing adding that the correctional facility is yet to identify the man.
According to reports, the man dressed in police uniform entered the prison gates and told prison officers her found that he wants to take the prisoner to court.
Without hesitation, the prison warders let him have the said prisoner.
The two then left the prison premises and escaped.
According to Shaba, the incident is shocking and prison authorities are working on the issue.
