Chief Justice gives Judges 90 days ultimatum on outstanding cases

Chief Justice Rizine Mzikamanda has given a 90-day ultimatum to all judges of the High Court to deliver judgments on all outstanding cases.

Acting Registrar for the High Court and Supreme Court of Appeal Kondwani Banda has disclosed this to the Public Accounts Committee of Parliament.

According to Banda , Chief Justice Rizine Mzikamanda issued a memo some weeks ago instructing all judges to compile all their outstanding cases and have them submitted to his office.

Banda was responding to queries from the committee members on continued delays by some judges to deliver judgement which in some instances takes more than five years.

Banda also added that the Judiciary has instituted a committee on performance assessment to look into such issues.
