KENYA – Residents of Unjiru village in Mathira west sub county were left shocked after a Nurse identified as Lydia Nyaguthii who worked at TumuTumu PCEA hospital was stabbed to death by a patient she took care of and got married to 20 years ago.
The suspect Stephen Muriithi had been admitted to the hospital after being burnt with hot water by his wife. Nyaguthii nursed him softly and they fell in love. They tied the knot soon after he was discharged and lived happily together or so everyone thought.
According to neighbors and close friends, Muriithi, a freelance photographer was a reserved man who barely spoke about his domestic issues.
On the fateful day, Mr Weru, a health officer met Nyaguthii rushing home past 5PM. 30 minutes later, he received news that she had been stabbed to death and on going to the scene, he found her body in a pool of blood.
Nyaguthii’s body is currently lying at Karatina mortuary as investigations into the death continue. No arrest had been made as of yesterday.
