Five people are in police custody at Nkhotakota police station for contravening with farm-gate guidelines.
Public relations officer for the station Sergeant Paul Malimwe confirmed the arrest saying the suspects are the vendors that have been buying farm produce from local farmers without licenses, using uncertified scale and buying farm produce without national identity cards.
According to Malimwe police have also confiscated four digital scales which were being used by the suspects.
Police arrested all five suspects on 24 May 2022 at Mwansambo Trading Centre and they are expected to appear before court soon to answer charges leveled against them.
