Information reaching this publication indicates that a criminal suspect has escaped from police cell at Nkhotakota Police Station.
The incident is reportedly to have happened on Thursday.
According to an eye witness, the suspect was seen running out of the police station in daylight yesterday, adding attempts by some officers, to apprehend him, were unsuccessful.
“I heard that the suspect comes from the area of Traditional Authority Kalimanjira. He was being taken to a room from a cell when he jumped a fence and was not apprehended,” said the eye witness.
Nkhotakota Police Spokesperson, Sergeant Paul Malimwe , asked for more time before commenting on this matter.
