China State Construction and Engineering Company has apologised and compensated it’s employee, Modester Kachere, in Karonga who was assaulted by a Chinese national who is also a senior official of the construction firm identified as Conan Chen.
Kachere, who works as a security guard, was assaulted on June 11, 2022 over some stolen metal bars according to records from Karonga Police.
With the intervention of a local non governmental organisation, Foundation for Community Support Services (Focus), Kachere has been compensated with K700,000 to withdraw the criminal case.
On top of that, according to the agreement which we have seen, she has been assured of job security and a new contract will be drawn with a revised salary.
