Demonstrations against high costs of living underway in Salima

Human Rights Ambassadors-led demonstrations on the high cost of living and poor governance are currently underway in Salima.

The protesters started marching from Kaphatenga heading to the District Commissioners’ office where they will deliver a petition.

Among other things, the protesters want President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera to resign from his position for failing to deal with the rise in the costs of various essential commodities in the country.

The protesters are also demanding answers from the President on the recent fuel hike.

There is heavy police presence.
