Woman takes own life after a fight with her husband in Chileka

A 30-year-old woman has committed suicide by poisoning after she picked a quarrel with his husband at Chileka area in Blantyre District.

The incident happened on June 22 2022 at Tambala Village in Traditional Authority Kuntaja in Blantyre.

Police report indicates that the deceased, Mwaiwawo William on the particular day had family misunderstandings with his husband that led the two to quarrel, resulting into a fight.

However, the same night of June 22 2022, the husband parked up his belongings and went away leaving behind his wife.

Unfortunately, later during the very same night, it is alleged that Mwaiwawo (now deceased) consumed Termic poison and she died whilst fast asleep.

The issue came to light when the deceased’s children started crying out loud and one person from the same compound forced the door to break into the house and found the deceased body lying dead on her mat.

Upon receipt of the matter, the Criminal Investigation Officers visited the scene and later the dead body was taken to Kadidi Health Centre where postmortem was conducted and revealed that death was caused as a result of organ failure due to poisoning.

Mwaiwawo William hailed from Tambala Village in the area of Traditional Authority Kuntaja in Blantyre District.

Police have since condemned the act of suicide by advising people to find and approach relevant authorities whom they trust for counseling and direction on personal problems than terminating their own lives as solutions of solving their problems.
