Chilima spits fire at MCP power hungry officials

Vice President Dr Saulos Klaus Chilima has said UTM and MCP agreed to be open and transparent with one another prio to the 2020 Fresh Presidential elections and there is no need to do otherwise now because of people who have tested that power is sweet.

He said this on Friday morning at UTM offices in Lilongwe during a public address on matters of National importance.

Dr Chilima revealed that President Chakwera and him have an agreement of 10 years where a presidential candidate in 2020 should not be a candidate in the later election.

“Therefore any departure from the agreement will call for a fresh presidential election because all Tonse Alliance partners contributed to the victory during the 2020 elections,” Chilima said.

According to him, the Alliance increased the chances of winning the election and UTM is a big member of the Tonse Alliance and it should not or ever be undermined.

” UTM and MCP agreed to treat each other as equals to consult each other before making decisions and to have mutual respect in running the affairs of the country,” he added.

Chilima further said that he was concentrating on doing his job as Vice President for the betterment of the country that is why he was quite but highlighted that the nation is not moving forward for tge the 28 years of democracy while our neighbouring countries are developing.

The vice President also added that UTM is fully committed to supporting ACB in fighting corruption as he urged members of UTM and all Malawians to allow ACB to carry out its work independently in investigating cases of corruption.

He highlighted the importance of removing immunity of the president from prosecution so that the president can as well be prosecuted for wrongdoing.

“Presidential immunity for the president of the country should be removed so that everyone in the country is investigated and that there are no two ways about it,” Chilima explained.

He has therefore advised Malawians to get up and work for the good of Malawi.
