Bishop Sitima reacts to Muslims’ call for his apology over Independence Day preaching

Bishop Montfort Sitima has said he is not aware of the apology calls by Islamic Commission for Justice and Freedom (ICJF) over his preaching during Independence Day Celebrations on Wednesday in the capital Lilongwe.

The Islamic Commission for Justice and Peace is accusing Bishop Stima of putting Muslim clerics in bad light when he said that Sheikhs were working towards bringing down the government.

The grouping has threatened to hold mass demonstrations, should the Catholic priest fail to apologise.

But speaking in an interview with the press Bishop Sitima said he is not aware of the calls for the apology.

Meanwhile, some Malawians are backing Bishop Sitima on the matter.
