A MAN of Luanshya on the Copperbelt has gone on the run after punching his one-month child to death during fight with his wife.
According to reports, Gift Kaunda of Kawama area and his wife Astridah Mwape picked a quarrel that degenerated to physical fight on the evening of last Wednesday.
As Kunda unleashed jabs and uppercuts on his wife, he accidentally landed one hard blow on the child which was on the back of the mother and caused blood to start oozing from it’s mouth.
Depsite the injury to the child, it was only taken to Kawama Clinic on Friday morning where it was referred to Roan General Hospital but died on the way.
Copperbelt police commanding officer Sharon Zulu has confirmed the development to ZANIS.
The commanding officer said the matter was not reported to police and the child was not taken to the clinic until on Friday around 16:00.
