Information reaching faceofmalawi indicates that six shops at Ntcheu market have been gutted down by fire after a teargas canister allegedly landed on one of the buildings.

Chifuniro Wanje , whose hardware shop is among the affected, claims to have lost property worth 900 thousand kwacha in the inferno.

Police are firing teargas to disperse angry protesters who earlier in the morning petitioned President Lazarus Chakwera over high cost of living.
