Chaos in Parliament as opposition MPs push for Gam fuels gas station scandal

Date:

Speaker of the National Assembly Catherine Gotani Hara has announced that the House cannot discuss a Private Member’s Motion on Gam fuels gas station at Kanengo in Lilongwe.

She said, this is so because the matter is still in Court.

Dowa West MP Abel Kayembe wanted to bring the motion which could allow the Legal affairs committee of Parliament to probe the matter.

At present, there is resistance from MPs as they still demanding that the motion be taken since Parliament can not be subjected to other outer forces.

Rumphi West MP Kamlepo Kalua said the House can still table the motion because Parliament is a stand alone entity.

MPs are shouting ‘enough is enough’ as they show displeasure with the Business Committee’s resolution.
