Fisherman fishes out dead seven year old girl

ZAMBIA – WHILE other kids of her age are playing and having fun as the winter is slowly fading, a seven-year old girl of Ndola has been found floating lifelessly in the Kafubu River.

ZANIS reports that the body of the minor was found in a decomposed state by a fisherman who went out fishing in the early hours of Monday morning this week.

Following the incident, the fisherman reported the matter to the police and the mother identified as Racheal Mwaba was immediately alerted.

Mwaba had earlier on reported to Mapalo Police post on July 8 that her daughter had gone missing since July 3 this year at around 17:00 hours.

Police then summoned Mwaba in connection to her missing person reports where she identified the clothes of the deceased to be the attire her daughter was last seen wearing.

The seven-year old girl was found in a grey and black dress.

Copperbelt Police Commanding Officer, Sharon Zulu confirmed the matter stating the incident occured between 3rd July 2022 and 1st August 2022.

Zulu disclosed that Police will treat matter as a suspected murder case in its investigations.

She said a postmortem was yet to be conducted at the scene as the body was in a bad state.
