As one way of promoting girl child education, the officer in charge for Lumbadzi Police Station Mrs Micklina Medi Senior Assistant Commissioner of Malawi Police (SACP) has advised girl students to work hard in class to achieve their intended goals.
The call was made on Thursday, August 04,2022 at Chinkhuti Primary School ground in Lumbadzi during a school outreach program organised by Restored Hope for Better Community (RHOBEC) in conjunction with Little Dresses for Africa (LDFA).
Speaking during the ceremony, Mrs Medi who was the guest of honour advised girls to work hard in class by not being absent, observing smartness, punctuality and discipline.
In her motivatational talk, the OC encouraged the learners to consult their teachers where they are not clear and to observe time management in every activity they do.
She also urged the students to be ambitious by having role models in various departments.
She further challenged the students to report to police or their teachers their abusers (in terms of sexual harassment, child labor and forced marriages). Issues of gambling, use of drug substances, early pregnancies and marriages were also tackled.
Concurring with the OC’s sentiments, Director for RHOBEC organization Gaddafi Mposa encouraged the learners to work hard in class to become self reliant and good leaders in the future.
With support from LDFA organization, RHOBEC has donated about 2000 dresses and 400 washable sanitary pads at Chinkhuti and Mkukula Primary Schools to lessen challenges for girls to avoid missing classes during menstruation period.
