Two suspects discharged in MK4.3 billion FDH Bank compensation case involving Dalitso Kabambe

Director of Public Prosecutions Dr. Steven Kayuni has asked the Chief Resident Magistrate in Lilongwe Madalitso Chimwaza to give the state 21 days to conclude preparing disclosures in a case in which former Reserve Bank of Malawi Governor Dr.Dalitso Kabambe and others are accused of paying 4.3 billion kwacha in compensation to FDH Bank without the approval of RBM board of directors.

Kayuni has also asked Chimwaza to discharge two of the nine accused Leah Donga and Rodrick Wiyo from the case following withdraw of complaint against them.

However, lawyer for Kabambe, Fostino Maere has faulted the state for delaying the case which started in 2021.

He has since asked the court to discharge Kabambe and Henry Mathanga from the case until the state completes its preparation of the disclosures.

The Chief Resident Magistrate is preparing a ruling on the requests from the two parties.
