Linda Kunje to appeal her 18 months jail sentence

Former Commissioner of the Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) Linda Kunje has said she will appeal the 18 months jail sentence handed to her for the role she played in blocking a presidential convoy in December 2020.

Kunje’s lawyer confirmed of the development in an interview with the press.

According to the lawyer, his client has instructed him to appeal in the High Court.

Kunje will be in jail for a period of 18 months while her former driver, Jones Tewesa, will be in jail for 15 months.

After the sentence, Kunje was spotted shedding tears.
