Child spotted taking care of her sick mother at QECH

A child suspected be of the age range of 5 to 8 has left many Malawians with tongue waging after being spotted taking care of her sick mother at Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital (QECH) in the commercial capital Blantyre.

According to one of the guardians found at the referral hospital, the girl identified as Grace took over the responsibility of looking after her mother after their relatives abandoned them in the hospital.

Her mother is said to have been diagnosed with breast cancer and is admitted 2A female Ward.

“Good evening ladies, Ku queens 2A female ward kuli ka mwana aka, her name is Grace/ Mwandida . Kakusamala mayake omwe ali ndi breast cancer, achibale anaathawa ati atenga matenda.

“I believe together we can do something about her situation,” wrote one of the guardians in a message posted on WhatsApp group seen by this publication.

Health officials at QECH are yet to comment on the matter.
