Airtel Malawi reward Temwa Chilenga with Mk13 million

Airtel Malawi on Wednesday launched Zilimwaife campaign, an initiative aimed at celebrating individuals that have done extraordinary things that benefit the society using technology.

According to Airtel Managing Director Charles Kamoto, the company has pumped in K100 million in the initiative which will run up to 31 December.

During the launch, Airtel awarded two individuals Temwani Chilenga and Dumisani Kaliati K13 million and 10million respectively for their extraordinary works in helping the communities.

Kaliati is a drone entrepreneur and the owner of MicroMek, a Malawian-based company that constructs low-cost drones. He used the drones in Kasungu to monitor the environment and to deliver medical supplies in hard-to-reach areas.

Speaking after the reward Chilenga hailed Airtel for the support.

“I’m so grateful that Airtel recognized me and supported my work with Thirteen million kwacha(MK13 ,000 000). This means so much to us and we will be able to do most of the things that we planned for. We are also thankful to all the people who support us spiritually, materially and financially. God bless you all.

“I know I’m not the only one but they’re a lot of people doing great things that benefit the society and all they need is love and support so let’s keep supporting each other with whatever we have. To take part in this campaign, dial 460(airtel numbers only) or watsapp 0994460460 and tell a story of yourself or someone that you know that has done extra ordinary things that benefit the society,” said Chilenga.

Chilenga is a young female primary school teacher who has helped thousands of homeless and orphaned children access education by providing them with basic necessities.

She uses part of her salary to support the needy.
