Joyce Banda speaks out after returning home from Queen Elizabeth’s funeral

Former President Dr. Joyce Banda has returned home after representing Malawi at the burial ceremony of Queen Elizabeth II in the United Kingdom.

President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera delegated the former President together with Minister of Information and Digitalization Gospel Kazako to represent Malawians at the funeral.

Speaking to the press upon arrival on Thursday, Banda said it was necessary for the country to honour the invitation.

She said there are many good lessons people can learn from the life of Queen Elizabeth including love for one another.

Banda also revealed that apart from attending the funeral, she had discussions with some development partners who are interested to invest in the agriculture and education sectors.

Queen Elizabeth II died at the age of 96 and she was laid to rest on September 19, 2022.
